Eleven boys working as bonded laborers in Samaypur Badli area of ​​North Delhi have been rescued, including an eight-year-old child. This information was given by a child rights body on Sunday. The Delhi Child Rights Protection Commission (DCPCR) said that raids were conducted at seven places in Samaypur Badli police station area on Friday after receiving a notice of children working as laborers in dangerous conditions. She said that eleven children were rescued during this campaign.

The DCPCR said in a statement, ‘These children were working in dangerous conditions as bonded laborers in bakery units, lathe machine units and auto center units in Alipur area of ​​North Delhi district. A child was rescued from a residential place where he was working as a domestic helper. She said, “The rescued children have suffered all kinds of physical and mental trauma, especially during the time of the Covid-19epidemic.” The commission said that the children have been sent to child care institutions in the city and will be reunited with their families.

According to the child rights body, on January 28, 51 minors were rescued in another rescue operation. Of these, 10 were boys and the remaining 41 were girls. The rescue operations were carried out in sawmill, shoe and scrap units in Nangloi area of ​​West Delhi. He said, “In both rescue operations, in most cases children were found to be working more than 12 hours a day and were being paid a minimum amount of Rs 100-150 per day.” “In addition, these children were found to be working without masks and working in very unhealthy conditions, especially in this time of epidemic,” the statement said.
