Suspect of ISIS connection, NIA raids on several targets of radical Muslim organization PFI

New Delhi
The National Investigation Agency has raided five locations in Kerala of the radical Islamic organization Popular Front of India (PFI). The houses of Mallapur, Coonoor and Kozhikode are being searched by the leaders of this organization. The NIA is carrying out the search for the purpose of exploring the PFI’s ties with the ISIS terrorist organization.

In fact, a large number of youth from Northern Kerala have joined ISIS. These youths went to countries like Afghanistan and joined ISIS there. Many youths have also been killed in them. The reporter of our associate English news channel Times Now informed that the NIA raid has taken place in the context of the investigation of this case. The Central Investigation Agency wants to find out which leaders of the PFI are behind the youth being sent abroad to join ISIS. The NIA is conducting raids at several locations in Delhi and Karnataka apart from Kerala.

Keep in mind that Mohammad Rashid, PFI’s training commander, has been arrested by the UP STF team a day before. Was planning a terrorist attack on sensitive places in Uttar Pradesh. Was on his way to Mumbai via Lucknow. Then the STF team arrested him near Mudghat intersection of Basti police station area.

Earlier, on 21 February, UP STF also raided PFI and its student organization Campus Front of India (CFI) at three bases in New Delhi. The raid in connection with the conspiracy of ethnic violence in the guise of Hathras scandal, recovered many objectionable documents, radical literature, information related to bank accounts, electronic devices and CDs. This action was taken by the STF after the interrogation of CFI National General Secretary Rauf Sharif during remand.

What is PFI?
The PFI was launched in 2006 by the merger of three Muslim organizations, the National Development Front of Kerala, Karnataka Forum for Dignity and Manitha Neethi Pasari of Tamil Nadu, in the post-Babri demolition. The political front of the PFI is named SDPI. The PFI describes itself as an organization raising voice for the backward and minorities. It is also reported that the organization was founded in 2006 as the successor to the National Development Front (NDF). The organization has its roots in Calicut, Kerala and is headquartered in Shaheen Bagh, Delhi. PFI claims that it now has units in 22 states. Most of the leaders of PFI are from Kerala and members are from ban organization SIMI.

When did the name of PFI come up?
PFI has been named in many cases regarding conversion. It was revealed that this organization had a major role in the violence in Delhi in February this year. According to the Delhi Police, organizations like PFI provided money to the protesters. The Enforcement Directorate is also investigating PFI funding under the PMLA. The Uttar Pradesh government had recommended a ban on PFI. Subsequently, the involvement of PFI people in the violence in Bengaluru in September also came to light.
