New Delhi, April 11 (Language) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday summoned personal assistants of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh for questioning in connection with allegations of corruption by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh.

Officials said that Sanjeev Palande and Kundan have been asked to appear before the CBI team for questioning as part of the preliminary inquiry initiated on the Bombay High Court order.

Singh had written a letter alleging that when Deshmukh asked suspended policeman Sachin Waje to forcibly recover Rs 100 crore per month from Mumbai’s bars and restaurants, Palande was also present at that time.

The National Investigation Agency is facing a probe into the explosive material found in a vehicle near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani. He is said to have said in his statement that Kundan was also present there during another such conversation.

The CBI had on Tuesday started a preliminary inquiry into allegations of corruption against Deshmukh on the orders of the High Court. A team of officers has been sent from Delhi to Mumbai for this. The CBI had earlier interrogated Waje, Singh and other Mumbai Police officials.
