Farmers’ tractor rally has turned into a violent demonstration on Republic Day. Worrying pictures of clashes between farmers and police are coming out of the country’s capital, Delhi. Meanwhile, Yogendra Yadav, a leader and member of the United Kisan Morcha, continues to trend on social media. In a conversation with a news channel, Yogendra Yadav appealed to the farmers not to indulge in any kind of violence and sabotage.

‘Young farmer standing in uniform for us’
Yogendra Yadav said, ‘If anyone has tried to put a vehicle on top of the uniform, it is condemnable, completely out of discipline. This is disgusting and not acceptable. We have been repeatedly saying from the stage that this young man in uniform is a farmer standing in uniform, we have no quarrel with this. If any such action has taken place, we condemn it completely. ‘

‘Follow the route given by the police’
Appealing to the protesters, Yogendra Yadav said, ‘I want to appeal again to all the farmers of the United Kisan Morcha, the route given by the police. Stayed in that. There should be no violence, sabotage from our side. Yogendra Yadav further said, ‘I know that 90 percent people have maintained discipline, but because of 2 – 5 percent people, the whole movement is being maligned.’

‘Hoisting the farmers flag in the Red Fort is wrong’
On the violence of farmers, Yogendra Yadav said, ‘We will find out who spread the violence in the movement. The uproar of the farmers is a matter of embarrassment; it is wrong to hoist the flag of the farmers in the ramparts of the Red Fort. I appeal to the protesting farmers for peace.

Farmer leaders overpowered
Farmer leaders have also overcame the protesters’ uproar and the police’s attempt to mount tractors. Rakesh Tikait of the Bharatiya Kisan Union said that he was not aware of it. Bhartiya Kisan Union spokesperson Rakesh Tikait said, ‘The rally is being held in a peaceful manner. I have no idea about this (violent clash). We are on Ghazipur and are releasing traffic here. ‘
