review
Rani (Taapsee Pannu) loves action and thrillers. But more than his married life, the action comes to him in novels woven on crime stories. She is a big fan of crime-thriller. The queen has a past of her own. She is beautiful, knows the art of seduction and has had many affairs in the past. On the other hand, her husband Rishu (Vikrant Massey) is a ‘good boy’. He is a good kid from head to toe. Her life has been very simple. Rani soon gets bored with her married life. He needs action, he needs adventure. But then his life changes. There is an entry in the story of a brother like Rishu’s friend. Its name is Neel (Harshvardhan Rane). He’s a bad boy with a chubby body. He comes to stay at Rishu and Rani’s house for a few days.
Director Vinil Mathew and Kanika Dhillon, who wrote the story of the film, take us into the different worlds of Rani and Rishu in 2 hours and 15 minutes. It has the simplicity of a small town and at the same time a hint of storm to come. Needless to say, the story manages to create an atmosphere right from its inception. In this environment, there is a fear of untowardness, along with adventure, there is also a string of anxiety and tension. The story of the film keeps you hooked as a viewer. It also entertains you and on many occasions you cannot predict what is going to happen next.
On screen, we see the lead characters of the film moving forward with their respective stories. All the three main characters have their own hallmarks about love, lust and desires. However, there comes a time in between where you think you know the end of the story, but be patient, because something bigger is about to happen.
Kanika Dhillon has added many layers to the story of the film. There are many twists in this love story, with which many emotions are firmly attached. Taapsee Pannu has played the character of a strong and stubborn queen in the film. His expressions bring life to it. There is a lot in the character of Rani. There are many ups and downs, which was not easy to handle, but Taapsee made it her own in a very easy way. Taapsee has given many dimensions to the character of Rani at the same time. He is stubborn too. He also specializes in the art of sensual and seductive. But still you will never get irritated by seeing him.
Vikrant Massey’s character is that of a simple yet smiling Rishu. He talks less. But his eyes say a lot. Kanika has given every character very well in her story. Through the story, these characters get full opportunity to make themselves big. The dialogues written by Ankana Joshi also give a fun experience. Harshvardhan Rane doesn’t have much to do. But they have done justice to whatever they have got.
Yamini Das played the role of Rishu’s mother in other characters of the film. She adds a tinge of comedy to the film. Music by Amit Trivedi, cinematography by Jayakrishna Gummadi strengthen the film.
There are many occasions in ‘Haseen Dilruba’ when you will find it ludicrous or unbelievable. But it is also true that at every second it keeps you hooked in the form of thrill generating twist and dark love story.
