The name of the road is derived from the rock which is shaped like a camel’s back. Camel’s Back Road was constructed in 1845. There is an ancient Hawa Ghar in this road where people can sit and watch the beautiful peaks. This Hawa Ghar was earlier known as Scandal Point. At a distance of 5.5 km from Mussoorie Library Bus Stand, Lal Tibba is the highest point of Mussoorie located in the Landour area. It is situated at an altitude of 2275 m. The place offers beautiful views of sunrise and sunset and is one of the best places to visit in Mussoorie. Lal Tibba (or Red Hill) was also known as Depot Hill due to the presence of the depot, it also houses a camp of the Indian Military Services, Towers of Doordarshan and All India Radio. In 1967, a telescope on the tower was placed on a rock by the municipality to offer beautiful views of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Bandarpunch, and other Himalayan ranges.
