Baba used to give darshan to the devotees from the scaffolding built in his ashram situated on the banks of river Saryu. In the year 1911, George V also came to his ashram to see Devraha Baba. Baba’s ashram is in Mayil village on the banks of river Saryu, about 40 km from Deoria district headquarter. Due to Saryu living in the Diara area, his name became Devaraha Baba. Slim body, long hair, yagnoveet on the shoulder and deer’s blister in the waist, this was Baba’s dress. Many politicians from abroad including former President Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Chandrashekhar, Vishwanath Pratap Singh, Veer Bahadur Singh Jagannath Mishra had also come to see Baba. In the rainy season, the water of the catastrophic flood of the Saryu river started receding after Baba’s loft.

Devraha Baba had given the claw mark to the Congress
After the Emergency, when the Congress party was badly defeated in the 1977 general elections. Then Indira Gandhi had reached her ashram to seek blessings from Devraha Baba. It is said that Baba raised his hand and blessed him with claws. After returning from there, Indira ji changed the election symbol of Congress to hand claw. In 1980, under the leadership of Indira ji, the Congress got a thumping majority on the claw mark and she became the Prime Minister of the country. In the year 1911, George V also came to his ashram to seek the blessings of Devaraha Baba. It is said that he talked to Baba for a long time.

…and the program of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was postponed
According to regional elders, the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was once going to visit Baba. On the way from the main road to the ashram, there was an old tree whose branches were bent down. The security personnel started preparing to cut the tree for the PM’s convoy to pass. When Baba came to know about this, he called the security personnel and said that that tree is the companion of our happiness and sorrow. He even talks to us in private. You guys don’t cut trees, PM’s program will be canceled now. Shortly after that, the news of the cancellation of the Prime Minister’s program came.

Baba took Samadhi in Vrindavan in 1990
Devraha Baba used to walk on water too. No one had seen Baba coming or going anywhere. Due to Khechari Siddhi, wherever he wanted, he used to reach there at the speed of his mind. He used to give prasad to the devotees. Baba also understood the language of animals. He never ate food in his life. Milk and honey were taken as fruit food. Devaraha Baba used to stay in his ashram for 8 months of the year, while the rest of the time used to stay in Kashi, Prayag, Mathura and Himalayas. No one has any idea of ​​his age. Baba’s devotees claim that he lived for 900 years. At last Baba had gone to Vrindavan. On June 11, 1990, Baba took his last samadhi there. It is said that a few hours before his burial, there was a sudden strange change in the weather.
