Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is said to have been established around 5 centuries ago. Built more than 350 years ago, this ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and attracts huge amount of devotees from Pondicherry and beyond. Vinayaka Chaturthi is another major festival celebrated here with great enthusiasm and fervour. According to Hindu scriptures, the name of Lord Ganesha is chosen from his 16 forms. For example, the idol in this Pondicherry temple is named as Bhubaneshwar Ganapati. However, because of the temple being near the sea, it came to be known as Manal Kulathu Vinayagar. Varadaraja Perumal Temple – Varadaraja Perumal Temple in Pondicherry

The Varadaraja Perumal Temple has been defining the religious fabric of the city for over 800 years. This historic Vishnu temple was built by the Cholas in the 11th century and is one of the oldest temples in and around Pondicherry. Here, Lord Vishnu is worshiped as Varadaraja Perumal. The idol of the deity stands, on both sides of which are Sridevi and Bhudevi. The temple has a five-tiered Rajagopuram which is 110 feet tall. Apart from the religious and architectural importance, this temple attracts tourists to the 83 waterfalls that flow into the temple ponds. Devotees believe that the water of these tanks has medicinal properties and common ailments are cured by taking a dip in it.
