The Supreme Court has decided to hear the PIL filed in the case of overcharging of patients through bills during the time of Corona. Along with this, the Central Government has been issued notice and asked to file a reply. It has been said in the petition that a mechanism should be made to check the bills charged more than the Kovid patients.

The Supreme Court has decided to examine the petition filed in this case. It has been said in the petition that private hospitals charged extra in the bill at the time of calamity like Kovid and patients and their families were put in serious financial trouble. The petitioner said that a mechanism should be prepared for the audit and scrutiny of the bills which were taken from the patients. A bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud of the Supreme Court has asked the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to file a reply.

Petitioner Abhinav Thapar has urged that in this case the bills of those hospitals should be scrutinized in whose bills extra charges have been made. It has been said in the petition that extra charges were taken from many patients at the time of corona. Many of these patients have even died. The Supreme Court said that in this case we will setup the mechanism. The Supreme Court said that this petition was filed as a public interest litigation and the petition specifically mentions that at the time of Corona, patients needed medical facilities and private hospitals were crowded to take these facilities.

There was a lack of public health facilities and there were complaints that helpless patients were overcharged. There are many families who could not survive on their own and many such people have faced financial problems. The petitioner has said that the central and state governments should set up a mechanism in this matter and they should scrutinize and audit the complaint of overcharged bill.

Justice DY Chandrachud of the Supreme Court has given many orders in the Corona case in the past.
On May 8, a National Task Force was set up by the Supreme Court to streamline oxygen supply and allocation across the country during the Corona pandemic.

The Supreme Court, in its important decision, had asked the central government on June 2 to tell the court how many vaccines for vaccination so far from which company to buy.

On June 26, the Central Government told the Supreme Court that it is not mandatory to register in advance on the Kovin app for the vaccination of Kovid. If people go directly to the vaccination center, they can register there and get vaccinated.
