A 24-year-old man has been arrested for blackmailing a person from Bharatpur, Rajasthan. Investigation revealed that he had recently used the photograph of Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana in blackmailing. The accused has been identified as Hakamuddin, a resident of Bharatpur.

How did you get caught in the trap?
According to DCP (Cyber) KPS Malhotra, a man told the police that he had received a request from a woman on Facebook. After a brief conversation he asked for the phone number. After giving the number, pornographic content was sent on that person’s WhatsApp from an unknown number. Later a morphed and objectionable video also came. Then he called by putting Rakesh Asthana’s DP and said that if the money is not given then he will put the video on the internet. That person gave Rs 1.96 lakh out of fear.

Many such gangs are active in Bharatpur
After registering the case, the case was handed over to ACP Raman Lamba. Investigation revealed that the phone numbers were from Assam but were being used in Bharatpur. When the money was traced, the police reached Hakamuddin in Bharatpur. He has been arrested while three more accomplices involved in the racket are absconding.

‘The left hand was useless in the attack of Nihang, now I am unemployed’, in April another person became a victim
Police said that gangs operating from Bharatpur create Facebook profiles of girls and send messages to people. Then after asking for the number, they provoke them to have sex over phone sex or video call. Then they are blackmailed by making a video of it. Police have cautioned against accepting Facebook requests from unknown people.
