About 23,000 Indian students studying medicine at Chinese universities are now helpless and unable to return to their courses in China. Online programs organized by Chinese universities will not be enough to lay the foundation for disciplines, especially practical clinics.
Also, students have been forced to download apps that are banned in India. India has banned around 250 Chinese apps over the insulating border stand-off. The students allege that they are being pressured to download banned Chinese apps like WeChat, Ding Talk, Superstar and a video chat app to continue with their courses. At the moment, member students of Indian Students in China (ISC) have been asked to login to the Chinese app via VPN to manage their class.
The request of the students has been ignored by the Chinese authority. Under the banner of ISC, around 3,000 students have sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi via email, in which he has said that they will follow all the necessary COVID related protocols in China, such as the quarantine period, vaccination and testing etc.
Not only are Indians barred from traveling to China, but Chinese nationals are also being denied visas on grounds of not meeting the health codes required to board planes bound for China. The ban has also been imposed on the family members living as divided families for the last one and a half years. Some could not visit their ailing relatives, while some families are traveling to third countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka and UAE to visit each other.
India has started issuing visas to Chinese nationals to visit their family members in India, but this is of no use to them, as China does not allow them to enter the country by denying them visas to come back. is giving.
Things were unlikely to move forward until the celebration of 100 years of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was completed. But they are over now and still China is not issuing visas. On the other hand, India has started issuing visas to Chinese businessmen to allow them to travel to India.
