The Bombay High Court on Tuesday directed jail authorities to produce the latest medical report of sacked police officer Sachin Vajhe on a plea seeking house arrest. The matter will now come up for hearing next month.
Explosive material recovered near Vajhe Antilia and businessman Mansukh is an accused in the Hiren murder case. The NIA has opposed Vajhe’s plea in the High Court seeking his temporary release from Taloja jail and his house arrest. The agency said that Vajhe is a very influential person.
If he is released from prison, he may abscond and influence prosecution witnesses. In an affidavit filed in the High Court on Tuesday, the NIA said that Wajhe is accused of serious offenses including being part of the conspiracy to kill businessman Mansukh Hiren and possessing a vehicle laden with explosives near Antilia.
Let us inform that the NIA has filed this affidavit in response to the petition of Wajhe. Vajhe has sought conversion of judicial custody into house arrest for post-bypass surgery care. Has been requested to keep house arrest till complete recovery. The NIA, in its affidavit filed in response to the petition, said that post-operation facilities as per the requirement of the accused are available at Taloja Jail in Navi Mumbai.
