The BJP West Bengal unit has set the party’s target for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. State President Sukant Majumdar has said that the BJP will aim to win at least 25 seats in the general elections in 2024. After attending a party meeting, Sukanta Majumdar said that the party has prepared the slogan ‘Ebar 25 paar’ (we will do 25 paar this time) keeping in mind the parliamentary elections.

BJP State President said that in the next Lok Sabha elections from West Bengal, our minimum target is 25 seats. We will gift at least 25 seats to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2024 as against 18 seats at present. The BJP won 18 of the total 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal in 2019, 16 seats more than the 2014 elections. This time the party has decided to work on the strategy ahead.

The party did not get big success in the assembly
The BJP had claimed before the assembly elections that its candidates would win more than 200 seats in this time’s assembly. But, it could not be possible. The party was reduced to a figure of 76 seats. The party got 40.7% votes in the Lok Sabha elections 2019. The Trinamool Congress, on the other hand, managed to get 43.3% of the vote. However, in the 2021 assembly elections, the BJP could get only 38.09 per cent votes with a loss of about two per cent. At the same time, Trinamool Congress got the support of 47.93 percent of the voters.

Efforts are being made to keep the supporters united
After the assembly elections, steps are being taken by the party to energize the disappointed supporters. However, TMC has taken a jibe at this announcement of the BJP. On the statement of the BJP state president, senior TMC MP Saugata Roy said that the party’s claim shows that he is inexperienced. They are not aware of the ground reality. He said the BJP got 77 seats in the assembly elections, but many of its MLAs joined the TMC. This number has now effectively gone up to 70. By any arithmetic, the BJP will not be able to win more than 10-11 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
