Focus on self-reliant India
Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat has been advocating ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ in the defense sector. Recently he had said that today the country needs indigenous weapons and technology. The dream of becoming a ‘Regional Power’ cannot be fulfilled by borrowed power. We need to think seriously in this direction.
General Rawat had said, ‘If we are to fight and win future wars, we cannot depend on imports. Hence, the way forward is indigenization. We in the Armed Forces are fully committed to this. He had also said, ‘Our country’s aspiration to become a regional power cannot depend on borrowed power. India will have to fight its wars in Indian ways.
Defense Minister has also given indications
Inaugurating the Rashtra Raksha Samarpan Parv in Jhansi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also spoke on the same lines. He clearly said that India has the goal of stopping the import of defense equipment. This will be achieved in the coming decade. The Defense Minister has made it clear that the country will move towards self-reliance in the defense sector. In this direction, an order of Rs 50 thousand crore has been given to Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL).
Rajnath Singh said that many ordnance factories have been converted into companies. Its purpose is to prepare better weapons in time. Now the effect of the steps taken by the government in the defense sector can be seen.
