What to prepare at home

Before bringing the baby home, decide where the baby will sleep. For that choose a room where there is sunlight and air. If the child is going to sleep with you, then take a big bed. Lay comfortable mattresses and cotton sheets.

If you have a pet at home, keep it away from the newborn. While carrying the baby in the car, arrange the car seat properly.

After going home, the mother has to feed the baby, so keep a nursing gown, nursing bra and pad, etc. at home for yourself.

Also keep 10 pairs of clothes and disposable diapers for your baby.

Do this work before going home

Before leaving the hospital, you should know a few things, such as:

  • Know about the vaccine and medicines needed for your baby before taking leave from the hospital. Vaccination is very important for the baby.
  • Get the whole house cleaned before taking the newborn home. There should not be any dust and mud in any corner of the house. Always wash hands before touching the child. Do not give soft toys, etc. in baby’s hands.
  • Check the body temperature of the child and feed him at least twice. If your baby has jaundice, talk to the doctor about her care before leaving the hospital.
  • Take whatever medicine is necessary for your baby.
  • Get tests like Congenital hypothyroidism etc.

Keep these things at home

Cotton clothes are always good for baby. Dyed clothing can cause problems on the baby’s skin.

Make arrangements to keep the stomach present at home away from your baby. Pet’s hair may cause allergic reactions to the child, so keep it away.

If there is any sick person in your house or someone has fever, cold or cough, then keep them away from the baby and arrange a separate room for them. The newborn’s immune system is not yet fully developed, so keep it away from the sick person.

After reaching home you have to take great care of your child. She will need to be weaned a little and change the diaper.
