Akash Missile News: Akash missile test successful for the second time in two days, shoots from the ground to the air

India on Friday successfully test-fired a new generation Akash surface-to-air missile (Akash-NG) from the Test Center (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha. The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) conducted this test against a high-speed unmanned aerial target. It was successfully destroyed by the missile.

DRDO sources said the missile was test fired from the launch pad-3 of ITR. For this the entire system including multifunction radar, command, control, communication system and launchers were deployed. “The missile, equipped with a radio frequency device, successfully destroyed the high-speed air target,” the organization’s spokesperson said.

Sources said the surface-to-air missile was test fired two days ago on July 21 from the same launch pad of ITR at Chandipur, but radio frequency equipment was not used in it. During this all the mission parameters were achieved. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, IAF and related enterprise on the second successful test of Akash-NG within three days.
