Actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar has announced a film titled ‘Godse’ on the 152nd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. He has released the teaser poster of the film on social media. Mahesh Manjrekar has also shared a post with this teaser poster. He wrote in his post that Happy Birthday in the most different way ever! Get ready to see a story that no one has dared to tell before!

Along with Mahesh Manjrekar, producer Sandeep Singh and director Raaj Shaandilyaa are also coming together in this film. ‘Godse’ is the third film that Mahesh Manjrekar will direct for Legend Studios. Before this, he is making films named ‘Swatantraveer Savarkar’ and ‘White’. The film can go on floors in the second half of 2022 next year.

The audience will decide who is right and wrong
Mahesh Manjrekar has shared a teaser poster of the film ‘Godse’ from his Instagram account. It read, ‘Happy Birthday Bapu, your Nathuram Godse.’ At the same time, Mahesh Manjrekar has written in his post, ‘The story of Nathuram Godse is very close to my heart. It takes guts to make a film like this. I have always believed in telling difficult topics and storytelling without compromising. People do not know much about Godse. People only know that they killed Gandhi. We neither want to save anyone nor speak against anyone while telling their story. Will leave it to the audience to decide who is right and who is wrong.

The untold story needs to be brought to the fore
Talking about the film, Sandeep Singh said, “I was thinking of Nathuram Godse’s story while making my first film. This is such an untold story that needs to be brought before the cinema lovers. There are many versions of Godse and Gandhiji that people know about. Mahesh, Raj and I intend to show this story based on facts and bring to the fore the cinematic creation of forgotten people for today’s generation.

People’s interest in knowing Nathuram Godse
Regarding the film, Raaj Shaandilyaa said, “In the last few years people have shown interest in knowing about Nathuram Godse. At the same time, we are now living in a society that encourages freedom of speech and different perspectives and views. So we feel this is the right time to bring a film on Nathuram Godse. I am looking forward to working with Sandeep Singh and Mahesh Manjrekar. I am sure this is a project that I would be proud of.
