Bell Bottom Box Office Day 1: ‘Bell Bottom’ disappoints on the first day, earning less than ‘Roohi’

Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Bell Bottom’ has been released on Thursday. This is the first major film to be released in theaters after the lockdown. The advance booking of the film has raised a hope that the lost charm will be returned at the box office. But the opening day earnings figures have disappointed. It was expected that ‘Bell Bottom’ would earn up to Rs 5 crore on the first day considering the current situation, but it could not happen. The film did a business of just Rs 2.75 crore on the first day.

Advance booking of 17 lakhs was done for the first day
The atmosphere was already hot in the market regarding this film of Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Vaani Kapoor and Huma Qureshi. The film also got good reviews. According to the advance booking data, booking of Rs 17 lakh has already been done for the first day. In such a situation, it was expected that ‘Bell Bottom’ would earn at least 4-5 crores on the opening day. However, there is still hope. Chances are that the film’s earnings will increase by the weekend.

‘Bell Bottom’ has released on more than 800 screens across the country. Here are some things to note. For example, cinema halls in Maharashtra are still closed. Apart from this, in the states where cinema halls are still open, only 50 percent seating capacity is allowed. On the opening day, even in this 50 percent seats, only 15 to 20 percent seats were seen to be filled.

‘Roohi’ earned 3.06 crores on the first day
Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Roohi’ was released after the last lockdown, when theaters were similarly open with 50 percent seating capacity. The film then did a business of Rs 3.06 crore on its opening day. However, then cinema halls had opened in Maharashtra as well. But that didn’t happen with ‘Bell Bottom’.

All eyes are on Delhi-NCR
All the hopes regarding the earnings of ‘Bell Bottom’ are now resting on the cinemas of Delhi-NCR. Along with Maharashtra, 20 percent of the earnings of any Hindi film comes from Delhi-NCR. In such a situation, if crowds of people reach the cinema hall during the weekend, then ‘Bell Bottom’ made under the direction of Ranjit M Tiwari will benefit. However, one more thing to note here is that the lockdown continues at night in UP. In such a situation, there are no late night shows in any theater of Noida.

2000 cinemas have closed
‘Bell Bottom’ has done less business than expected in Rajasthan, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bihar on the first day. In such a situation, if the crowd increases in these areas till the weekend, then the earnings can increase. Before the corona infection in the country, there were about 10 thousand screens. These also included single screens, which earn a lot of money. But due to the lockdown, the work came to a standstill in such a way that 2000 of these screens are now closed. In such a situation, even if all the theaters open, then the earning figure will not be the same as before.
