The BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) met on Saturday to finalize the list of remaining candidates for the Assam and West Bengal assembly elections in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior leaders of the party were involved.
This was the second meeting of the party’s CEC to decide the candidates for the assembly elections. The first list of candidates announced by the party included candidates contesting the seats related to the first two phases of the Assam and West Bengal assembly elections.

Voting will take place in three phases in Assam and eight phases in West Bengal. Polling in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will be held in a single phase on April 6. Apart from Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and party president JP Nadda attended the BJP CEC meeting.
