Digital Desk, Brasilia. Brazil’s Health Minister Maserlo Quiroga said all Brazilians over the age of 18 would be eligible to get a booster shot against Covid.
Quiroga said that based on information from scientific studies, we have decided to expand the booster shot to everyone over the age of 18 who received a second dose five months ago. Prior to the announcement, only people over the age of 60 or those with weakened immune systems and health workers were eligible to get booster shots, Xinhua news agency reported.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, more than 12.4 million Brazilians are eligible to receive a booster shot. As of Tuesday, the ministry has confirmed a total of 21,965,684 COVID-19 cases and 611,478 deaths from the disease since the start of the pandemic in the country.
