On January 27, Twitter had said that it suspended more than 300 accounts after the farmer rally turned violent.

Why the ban?
News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) had asked Twitter to block around 250 accounts that were making objectionable and inflammatory tweets under the #ModiPlanningFarmerGenocide hashtag. These tweets were carried out on 30 January. MEITY took this step at the request of the Ministry of Home Affairs and law enforcement agencies. It was feared that such tweets could worsen the law and order situation.

Delhi Police sent fresh notice
In connection with the violence during the tractor parade of farmers, the Delhi Police has sent fresh notices to 50 people, including farmer leaders.
