Congress has attacked BJP over the case of beating of a bangle vendor in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The party on Tuesday alleged that a role was being created to incite communal discord and polarization ahead of the assembly elections due next year. The opposition party also claimed that the perpetrators of such incidents were insulting Hindu culture.
Senior Congress leader Chidambaram tweeted, “These incidents are an attempt to create a role for polarization and incite communal clashes ahead of the state assembly elections. First Ghaziabad, Kanpur and now Indore. Who are these people, who are encouraged to decide what is right and what is wrong? He asked that if the home minister of the state (MP) will justify the mob violence, then why is he continuing in the home minister’s chair?
Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala also attacked the BJP over the matter. He tweeted, ‘The poor bangle person will also be beaten up and he will be sent to jail. These goons are insulting the great Hindu culture by spreading violence. Shame on you, is this the rule of law?’
It is worth noting that a 25-year-old man, who was selling bangles by hawking in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh, was thrashed by a mob allegedly asking for his name, the matter gained momentum after the video of the incident surfaced. Meanwhile, State Home Minister Narottam Mishra had said on the matter that the controversy started after this man, claiming himself to be a Hindu, sold bangles to women in the holy month of Sawan, even though he belongs to another community. He had said that two such (suspicious) Aadhar cards have also been found from the churiwala.
