A 43-year-old woman and her male friend have been arrested for allegedly killing her husband after a quarrel in Delhi. Police said on Wednesday that the incident occurred in Alipur area of outer Delhi on Saturday. Accused Sangeeta and her friend Nikhil John aka Rinku were arrested on Monday.
A day after the incident, Sangeeta complained to the police that her husband Phula Ray was missing since Saturday. Fula Ray used to sell vegetables. Sangeeta told the police on Monday that Ray’s body was found in a crematorium in Khampur village in north-west Delhi. The police team rushed to the scene and saw the bruises on the body. Deputy Commissioner of Police (External North) Rajiv Ranjan Singh said, ‘It seemed that the body is two days old. The corpse had started rotting.
Initial investigation revealed that Ray had been in a matrimonial relationship with a woman named Rekha for 12 years before meeting Sangeeta. Ray has three children from his first marriage. Later, after coming to Delhi, Ray moved to live with Sangeeta, who was divorced. The two got married in 2017. It is later revealed that Rekha has come to Delhi with her children and Ray leaves Sangeeta.
Rekha told the police that Sangeeta had a fight with Ray before the incident. The police then combed the CCTV footage and extracted their call records. The DCP said, “After detailed interrogation, he confessed to the crime.”
