In Shahdara’s Gandhi Nagar, the servant kidnapped the seven-year-old son of a water trader. 1 crore 10 lakh ransom demanded. The police recovered the child from near Gokulpuri metro station within three hours. The accused servant Monu (21) was arrested, who hails from Bahraich district of UP. The businessman had hired Monu again five-six days ago. The accused told during interrogation that he wanted to buy a flat in Mumbai, hence had demanded ransom.
Joint CP (Eastern Range) Sagarpreet Hooda said that at around 5:39 pm on Tuesday evening, a call was received at Gandhi Nagar police station about the child being kidnapped. Jyoti Kashyap told that she lives with the family in Subhash Mohalla. The family consists of husband Rohit Kashyap, two children and other members. The family has a big water business. Jyoti told that at 4 o’clock in the evening, the servant Monu had taken the younger son of seven years to the park for a walk. When he did not return for a long time, he called on Monu’s mobile, which came off. After some time Monu called Jyoti and told that the child is with her. He will get it only after giving 1 crore 10 lakh rupees.
DCP (Shahdara) R. Sathyasundaram immediately formed 10 teams under the supervision of ACP Operations Manoj Pant. The last location of the accused’s mobile was checked, which was switched off in Gandhi Nagar itself. The accused had stolen the phone of another servant and made a ransom call from him. At the behest of the police, Jyoti told the accused to have Rs 10 lakh, but he did not agree. The accused gave an hour’s time to arrange the money. During this, the police caught the accused from outside the Gokulpuri metro station through technical surveillance. The innocent was also recovered safely.

A month ago, the accused Monu had worked for 8-9 days and increased his closeness with the innocent. It was only on the insistence of the innocent that he was again placed on a higher salary. The child did not even know that Monu had kidnapped him. The accused was giving him cold drinks and sometimes expensive things. When the police team caught him, the child started saying that this is my uncle, why are you catching him. The child was so mingled with Monu. During interrogation, the accused told that he had to buy a flat in Mumbai. Owner Rohit gets payment of lakhs of rupees for water daily, so he hatched a conspiracy to kidnap the child and take ransom.
