Climate activist Disha Ravi has been arrested from Bengaluru for her involvement in sharing on social media a ‘toolkit’ related to farmers’ demonstrations. A senior police officer said on Sunday that 21-year-old Disha Ravi was arrested by the cyber cell team of Delhi Police on Saturday. The court has sent Disha Ravi to five days police custody. Friday for future key is founder
Disha Ravi is a graduate in Business Administration from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. Disha is also the co-founder of Friday for Future India. Friday for Future is an international movement in which school students miss class on Friday and join in a demonstration about climate change. Through this demonstration, politicians are demanded to take steps regarding the changes in the environment. In 2018, it gained popularity after the performance of young climate activist Greta Thunberg outside the Parliament of Sweden.

Father is athlectis trainer
Disha’s father stays in Mysuru and trains athletics. Disha’s mother is a housewife. Disha herself works as a Culinary Experience Manager at Bangalore-based Good Milk. The Delhi Police team arrested Disha from her home. He was then brought to Delhi and produced in a magistrate court.

Bangalore Police said – no previous record

Bangalore Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Division) Dharmendra Kumar Meena said that we have not previously found any records of Disha himself being involved in any kind of protest. She was not even on the police radar before this arrest. The DCP said they were cooperating in the Delhi Police’s action as a formality.

Police sought information from Google and other companies
Delhi Police on Friday asked Google and other social media companies to provide information about email IDs, domain URLs and some social media accounts associated with the makers of the ‘Toolkit’. This ‘toolkit’ was shared on Twitter by climate change activist Greta Thunberg and others. The ‘tool kit’ contains guidelines and content related to trending a campaign via Twitter.
