Television queen Ekta Kapoor is celebrating her birthday on Monday, June 7. She is known to break many barriers and has been ruling the TV industry for decades. He has also proved himself as a film and OTT producer but this was not his original plan.

Ekta wanted to get married at the age of 22 and wanted to live a very simple life. He has admitted this in an interview. Ekta said, ‘At the age of 17, my father told me to either get married or go to work instead of partying. He told me that you will not get anything except pocket money.

Worked with ad agency
Ekta further said, ‘After this I worked with an ad agency for extra money. I was fine with the situation and thought I would lead a simple life, get married at 22 and settle down happily. Now say bad luck or fortunately, what we think does not happen.’

When Ekta was offered a big role
Ekta’s father and famous actor of his time, Jitendra was once offered to make software for London-based channel TV Asia by his friend Ketan Somaiya. This job was transferred to Young Ekta Kapoor but before she could sell the software, the company itself was sold to Zee Channel.

When all the investments are lost

Ekta says, “I decided to make 5 or 6 pilots and the concepts were in my mind. The channel was meanwhile sold to Zee TV. I was trying to sell software that no one was willing to buy and our partnership fell apart. We lost all our investments and reached the last 2 lakhs. I decided to shoot a pilot for a show called ‘Hum Paanch’ and sold it to Zee. I was 19 then when the show went on air.

Ekta Kapoor decided early in her career that she would take her show to South India as well but faced opposition from the local industry. After this she met South’s superstar Rajinikanth at a party with her father. He told Jitendra that your daughter’s future is bright and it will go far.

Rajinikanth helped
Ekta says, “When I was going to Tamil Nadu for a slot, I realized that there is a bias towards North Indians due to which it was difficult for me to get a slot. However, when Rajinikanth speaks, people listen. Ekta’s show Kudumbambam became a hit in South and was later remade in Hindi as ‘Ghar Ek Mandir’. Ekta considers big personalities like Rajinikanth, Makrand Adhikari, Sameer Nair, Uday Shankar as her mentors in life and gives credit for their success.

Ekta’s brother is also a single father
Currently, Ekta is a single mother and a son was born on 27 January 2019 through surrogacy, whose name is Ravi Kapoor. Talk about Ekta’s brother Tusshar Kapoor, he is also a single father. He has also become the father of son Lakshya through surrogacy. Recently he said that he is happy to be single and will never get married. He said that he does not want to share himself with anyone else.
