The special NIA court has made important observations in its order rejecting the bail application of activist Anand Teltumbde in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist relationship case. Special Judge D.E. Kothlikar, who was hearing the case being probed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), made the remarks on July 12 while dismissing Teltumbde’s bail plea. The special court said, “After perusing the documents, e-mails and statements of witnesses relied upon by the prosecution and cross-examination of the veracity of the allegations made against the applicant, this court found that the allegations were natural. are not unlikely or completely unreliable.’
“On the contrary, I have no hesitation in arriving at the conclusion that there is sufficient evidence on the basis of which the court may, prima facie, conclude that the allegations against Teltumbde are prima facie true,” the judge said in the order. .’ Teltumbde was arrested by the NIA in April last year. He had filed a bail application in January, 2021. The petition claimed that the allegation of the prosecution that he is waging war or attempting to wage war or inciting the public is not correct. Teltumbde is currently lodged in Taloja Jail.
