The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) said on Wednesday that farmers agitating against the new agricultural laws on the borders of Delhi will march on foot till May in Sansand. Announcing their plans for the next two months, the Morcha said, ‘The Morcha had a meeting yesterday (Tuesday) in which it was decided that the farmers would march till Parliament. The date of March has not been decided yet.
Farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chadhuni said, “This will include not only the farmers, but also women, unemployed persons and workers who are supporting the movement.”
While addressing the press conference, Chaudhuni said that the march would be taken out in a ‘peaceful manner’ and that special care would be taken that the incident which took place on 26 January should not be repeated. The leaders also shared their plan to form a committee to control the protesters when the police action took place in the Parliament march.
He said, ‘The protesters will be made clear that SKM condemns all forms of violence. Therefore the protesters should know that if there is any damage to property by them, they will have to pay a fine. ‘ Farmer leaders also announced the blocking of the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway for 24 hours on 10 April.
Another farmer leader said, “We will block the KMP Expressway for 24 hours on April 10, from 11 am on April 10 to 11 am the next day.” He said, ‘We will do this because the government is not listening to us. it is sleeping. This government has to be awakened.
A program will be organized on May 6 to honor the farmers who have died during the movement. Separate programs will also be organized to celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti and Shramik Divas.
