Farmers Protest: Farmers Organization will talk to the government again today, both sides are adamant on their stand

The 10th round of talks will be held today between the central government and farmer organizations amid protests against the three agricultural laws. While the farmers are adamant on repealing all the three laws, the government is not in a mood to back down. In such a situation, the chances of getting results in the talks between the government and farmers are being told less. In the last meeting too, the government had asked farmers to talk point-by-point on all the three laws. He also hinted at furthering the MSP of crops. Prior to the meeting, proposals to be put forward by the government were discussed at a high level meeting of officials in the Ministry of Agriculture.

Government has agreed to two demands
Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar says that the government had accepted the demand of farmers on the Air Pollution Ordinance and the proposed Electricity Act. Farmer leaders still maintain that their movement will continue till the government repeals all three laws. He is also determined to hold the Kisan Republic Parade in Delhi on 26 January. Several rounds of discussion have taken place at the government level to resolve the matter. Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah has held several rounds of meetings on this issue. The prolongation of the case is adding to the problem for the government.

The Supreme Court committee also called the farmers
A member of the Supreme Court-appointed committee, Ashok Ghanvat, said that a meeting will be held on Thursday with the farmers and other concerned parties. However, Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait has said that the leaders of the United Kisan Morcha will not attend this meeting. Ghanvat said that the committee would try to resolve the current dispute.

Farmers are firm on the decision regarding tractor rally
Farmers are firm on their decision regarding the tractor rally on Republic Day. On Tuesday, a meeting was held between farmer leaders and top police officers of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Darshan Pal Singh, president of the Revolutionary Farmers Union, said that there would be no change in the proposed rally. He said, ‘We have assured the officials that the rally will be peaceful. Police officials said that they will think about it and there will be a meeting again for the next one or two days.
