The decision came on Wednesday in the ongoing gang-rape case against Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, who was a cabinet minister in the Samajwadi Party government. Special Judge of MP-MLA Court Pawan Kumar Rai convicted three accused including Gayatri in the case. The court will decide on the sentence on November 12. At the same time, giving a big relief to the four other accused in the case, they have been acquitted by the court.
Those who have been convicted by the court include Gayatri Prajapati, Ashish Shukla and Ashok Tiwari. The acquitted accused are Rupeshwar alias Rupesh, Chandrapal, Vikas Verma, Amarendra Singh Pintu. Advocate Pranshu Agrawal, appearing for them, had argued during the arguments that none of the witnesses presented in support of the facts on behalf of the prosecution have told a single fact against Rupeshwar or Chanderpal.
Order of inquiry against the victim
During the hearing of the case, the victim has also suffered from changing her statement frequently. The court has ordered the investigation against the victim including Ram Singh Rajput and Anshu Gaur to the Commissioner of Police, Lucknow. The court has said that it should be investigated that under what influence these three changed their statements repeatedly during the testimony.
What was the matter?
On February 18, 2017, on the orders of the Supreme Court, a case was registered against Gayatri Prasad Prajapati and six other accused under gangrape, threat to life and POCSO Act. The Supreme Court had given this order on the petition of the victim. The victim had accused Gayatri Prajapati and her accomplices of forcibly having physical relations with her minor daughter, accusing her of gangrape.
The three accused, including Gayatri Prajapati, can be punished with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment or even the death penalty. The maximum punishment under Section 376-D of the IPC is life imprisonment.

In 2013, the victim met the current cabinet minister Gayatri Prajapati in a program of Ganga Aarti at Ram Ghat in Chitrakoot.
Gayatri raped her for the first time in the year 2014, after that till 2016 he continued to physically abuse the victim along with other people.
On October 17, 2016, for the first time, the victim complained about this matter to the DGP of UP. But no action was taken.
On 16 February 2017, the Supreme Court ordered the UP Police and the government to register an FIR against the victim.
On 18 July 2017, UP Police registered a case against Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, Vikas Verma, Ashish Shukla and Ashok Tiwari under various sections. Later the names of Amarendra Singh alias Pintu, Chandrapal and Rupeshwar alias Rupesh were also added.
The statements of all the accused were recorded on 2 November 2021.
On 8 November 2021, the court completed the hearing of the case.
On 10 November 2021, former ministers Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, Ashok Tiwari and Ashish Kumar were convicted. On the other hand, Amarendra Singh alias Pintu Singh, Vikas Verma, Chanderpal and Rupeshwar alias Rupesh were acquitted for lack of evidence.
On November 12, the court will pronounce the verdict on Gayatri’s sentence.
