Former Goa CM Manohar Parrikar’s son Utpal Parrikar has warned that he will be forced to take tough decisions if the BJP does not give him an assembly ticket from Panaji. However, he also added that he is “completely confident” that he will get the ticket from here. His father Late Manohar Parrikar continued to represent Panaji for 25 years.

On Thursday, Utpal said, “I have already told the party that I want to contest from Panaji. I am sure the party will also give me a ticket. At present, Antanasio Monserato is the MLA from here. He won from here in the 2017 assembly elections and later joined the BJP.

When Utpal was asked what he would do if he did not get the ticket, he said that he would not like to say anything further on the matter for the time being. He said, ‘I don’t need to speak on this issue right now. Manohar Parrikar did not get anything easily in life. Similarly, I have to work hard for what I want. I may be forced to make tough decisions. I pray that I get the strength to take such tough decisions.

He also added that he may continue with the BJP as well. Utpal said, ‘When the time comes to take a decision, I will listen to the people. I have informed the party and I am sure that the party will give me the ticket.

When Gov BJP President Sadanand Seth Tanawade was asked in this matter, he said, ‘Anyone can claim for party ticket. The final decision has to be taken by the parliamentary board of the party itself, it will not be decided at the local level. I recently met Utpal Parrikar but we did not have any discussion on the ticket.
