After the detection of the new variant Delta Plus of Corona, the government has removed the tension of the people. It has said that this variant has been present since March. It’s nothing to worry about. Its progress is being monitored. The ‘Delta Plus’ variant is derived from a variation of the ‘Delta’ or ‘B1.617.2’ variant of the corona virus. The ‘Delta’ variant was first identified in India. It was responsible for the second wave of the pandemic.
NITI Aayog Member-Health Dr VK Paul detected DeltaPlus in Europe in March itself. This is due to the mutation in the delta variant. Information about this was made public on 13 June.
Paul told that there is nothing to worry about Delta Plus yet. According to the available data, this variant induces neutralizing monoclonal antibodies. More studies are being done on this variant right now.
need caution
He said that the new variant of Corona has become smarter than in 2020. Now we need to be more careful. We have to follow more social distancing. The mask will have to be worn continuously. Without it, the situation could get worse again.
The same, Health Ministry Joint Secretary Luv Agarwal said that people should avoid unnecessary travel now. In the fight against Corona, there are additional tools of vaccination. But, people still have to take precautions. Along with wearing a mask, they should follow the rules of social distancing.
Key things about Delta Plus
Mutation in delta or B.1.617.2 variant has resulted in new delta plus variant. How severe the disease becomes from this variant is not known. Delta Plus or AY.1 are not affected by monoclonal antibody cocktails. This is not a matter of concern for India right now as there are not many cases. According to a report by Public Health England, some 63 cases of the Delta Plus variant have been found. Of these, six are from India. The delta strain B.1.617.2 has a mutation of the K417N protein in the spike. This mutation was also present in the beta variant b.1.351.
