Sessions Court rejected the bail plea
A single bench of Justice Sandeep K Shinde was hearing Raj Kundra’s bail plea on Wednesday. There are many serious allegations in this FIR registered against Raj Kundra in 2020. On July 19, the police had arrested Raj Kundra in connection with another such FIR. He has been in jail since then. Raj Kundra’s interim bail plea was rejected by the Sessions Court, after which he has approached the High Court.
Raj Kundra said – my name is not in the FIR
According to the report of ‘Indian Express’, in his petition, Raj Kundra has said that his name is not anywhere in the FIR registered by the cyber cell last year. Not only this, he has fully cooperated in the investigation of the police in the case and has also recorded his statement many times. Raj Kundra has also said that he has also handed over all the documents related to the investigation to the police.
‘I just invested money in Armsprime’
The petition filed by Raj Kundra in the Bombay High Court states that in February 2020, an acquaintance of his had approached him to invest in a company named Armsprime Media Pvt Ltd. The company provides a digital platform for artists to showcase their talent and interact with clients. This business was based on the subscription model. Businessman Raj Kundra said that after hearing this offer he felt that it is a new and unique idea. He has claimed that he was associated with this company only from February to December 2019. He also claimed that he was never actively involved in contract making or content creation of the company. That is, they do not know what kind of contract has been made with artists or what kind of content is being made for this.
‘Hotshots have nothing to do with pornography’
Kundra has said in his petition that one of the apps created by this company was named ‘Hotshots’ and contrary to the claim of the police, this app had nothing to do with pornography. Raj Kundra says that in this case He has been wrongly implicated. The plea further said that Kundra has been arrested in another case under similar sections and during the police investigation, electronic devices and other documents were confiscated, which were already in his custody.
Lawyer gave example of Poonam Pandey, Sherlyn Chopra
Raj Kundra’s lawyer Prashant Patil argued in the court that the High Court had given interim protection to Sherlyn Chopra and Poonam Pandey and other accused in the case. The lawyer said that the custodial interrogation of Raj Kundra was not even required. Not only this, the sections of the offense against which Raj Kundra has been imposed, there is a provision of imprisonment and punishment of less than 7 years, in such a situation, he should have got protection from arrest.
Lawyer said – give a week’s time for debate
Additional Public Prosecutor Prajakta Shinde opposed Raj Kundra’s plea in the court. He told the court that Raj Kundra’s role in the case was different from that of the other accused and hence he cannot seek protection on the basis of equality. Shinde sought time from the court to debate the merits of the businessman’s petition, which was accepted by the court. Giving time to the lawyer, the court, while giving relief to Kundra in the FIR of the year 2020, stayed the arrest for a week. Also, the date of August 25 has been fixed for the next hearing of the matter. Earlier on August 7, the High Court had rejected the bail plea of Raj Kundra and his aide Ryan Tharp.
