Similar efforts are being made even after the tragic incident of Lakhimpur Kheri.

Assembly elections are due in Uttar Pradesh after a few months. In order to capture the power of Lucknow, all the political parties have started looking for and raising issues in terms of their supporter base. In such an environment, the Lakhimpur incident has given him a favorable opportunity. In independent India, there has been a belief that the road to the throne of Delhi passes through Uttar Pradesh. The opposition feels that if it defeats the BJP on the soil of Awadh, Purvanchal, western Uttar Pradesh and Rohilkhand, it will be easier for them to overthrow the power firmly established on the throne of Delhi. This is the reason why there is a possibility of increasing the duration of political bread baking on the Lakhimpur fire. However, the way the Yogi government acted immediately after the incident and the steps taken, the matter seems to be moving towards calm at the moment. In view of this, the level at which the administration should have been alert, at least in Lakhimpur Kheri, it did not show up. Secondly, whether farmers killed, local journalist Raman Kashyap or other victims of violence, they were all citizens of this country. There may be differences of opinion among people, they may have different views on any issue. This does not mean that someone should be killed for difference of opinion. Politics claims time and again that its aim is to take care of the larger public interest. This is the reason why Govindacharya appealed to all political parties to cool the matter instead of taking political advantage of this incident. But why would Govindacharya’s words tempt politics looking for sugar syrup for his own benefit?
Ambedkar had clearly said in the Constituent Assembly on the day that the constitution was approved, that in independent India, agitation and dharna etc. have to be avoided. Perhaps politics thinks that if it does not take advantage of such incidents, it will become irrelevant.
The Supreme Court, while hearing the petition filed regarding farmer laws, has rightly said that whenever incidents like Lakhimpur happen, no one comes forward to take responsibility for them. No matter how much compensation is received in exchange for the eight lives of Lakhimpur, no matter how much the social organizations may collect, but even the largest amount cannot be equal to a life. Those who have died in this incident, their families will pay the price of their deficiency in future. Then there will be neither politics nor administration.

Today’s battles have also become battles of creating and destroying images. In this age of social media, everyone has their share of truth. According to this practice, the farmer organizations are showing their truth and the other side is telling them incomplete. Similarly, the accused party is showing its truth and the farmers’ organizations are not ready to accept it. But the way violence has taken place, the fallen people are being mercilessly beaten, it cannot be called politics and agitation. This is a case of ruthless killings and the law should take its own course in this matter. The Yogi government has rightly decided to get the entire matter probed by a retired High Court judge. It should be hoped that the full facts will come out in the investigation and strict action will be taken against the culprits.

Lastly, one more thing should be noted that this whole incident should not be taken as just a matter of law and order. Its deeper implications, goals and far-reaching implications should also be taken into account. Only then such incidents can be prevented from happening in future. Farmer organizations also have to be careful that their supporters do not turn violent. Violence is ultimately harmful to each side. But the question of lakhs of rupees is whether the leadership of the peasant movement, who uses the language of unbuckling, will try to understand this fact?
