Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday alleged that Aligarh Muslim University alumnus Sharjeel Usmani had insulted the sentiments of Hindus during his speech at the recently held Elgar Parishad conference in Pune. He demanded strict action against Usmani.

Insulted the feelings of Hindus
Leader of the Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Fadnavis also said that the state government did not register an FIR against Usmani despite the BJP’s demands. Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis said that in a video, Sharjeel Usmani is speaking at the Elgar Parishad. Usmani has insulted the sentiments of the Hindu community.

Target targeted at Maharashtra government

Devendra Fadnavis said that a person comes to Maharashtra, insults our feelings, and returns to his home state without facing any legal action. If the state government fails to take any action against him, we will assume that the government is with Usmani.

Sharjeel Usmani gave this statement

Sharjeel is one of those who protested against CAA-NRC-NPR on the campus of Aligarh Muslim University. Sharjeel was subsequently arrested from his home in December last year. Sharjil’s father’s name is Tariq Usmani.
