Mahindra gets Indian customers in new year, sales of passenger vehicles up 4% in January

Mahindra and Mahindra has released the January 2021 sales report. In January, the company’s passenger vehicles (including cars, UVs and vans) registered a 4 percent year-on-year increase in sales. Mahindra sold a total of 20,634 passenger vehicles in January 2021. Whereas, in January 2020, Mahindra’s total 19,797 passenger vehicles were sold in the Indian market.

Passenger vehicle sales may have increased, but Mahindra’s passenger car sales have declined. In January 2021, Mahindra has sold 136 passenger cars. Whereas, in January 2020, 342 passenger cars were sold.

Talking about exports, an increase has been recorded here. Mahindra exported a total of 2286 vehicles outside India in January 2021. Whereas, in January 2020, the company sold 1,761 units outside India. That is, the company exported 30 percent more vehicles in January 2021 as compared to January 2020.

Talking about the total sales so far, from April 2020 to January 2021, Mahindra sold 125,125 passenger vehicles. Whereas, from April 2019 to January 2020, Mahindra sold 172,656 passenger vehicles. That is, during this period, the company’s passenger vehicle sales fell by 28 percent year-on-year.

Like passenger vehicles, the company’s commercial vehicles also registered a 25 percent year-on-year decline. Mahindra sold 125,125 commercial vehicles from April 2020 to January 2021. Whereas, from April 2019 to January 2020, Mahindra sold 172,656 commercial vehicles.

The largest decline has been recorded in the passenger cars segment. Mahindra sold a total of 1618 passenger cars from April 2020 to January 2021. Whereas, from April 2019 to January 2020, a total of 7037 passenger cars of Mahindra were sold in the Indian market. During this period, passenger car sales fell by 77 percent.
