Mahindra may launch a new car in the mid-size SUV segment this year. According to reports, the company is currently working on the codename S204, which Mahindra may launch in the Indian market under the name Mahindra XUV400. This SUV will come in the segment below the XUV500. According to the reports, this car, designed keeping in mind the urban areas, will be launched specifically to compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.

According to rumors, the new Mahindra XUV400 mid-size SUV will work on Ford’s VX-722 platform. But after breaking the contract between Mahindra and Ford, the company may now launch it on Mahindra’s X100 platform. Explain that the XUV300 works on this platform. The X100 is in a way a modified version of the SsangYong’s X100 platform.

According to reports, the Mahindra XUV400 or S204 mid-size SUV will have a length of 4.4 meters. It got a longer-wheelbase than the regular version. Apart from this, it will also get big boot space. The company can launch its XUV400 in a 5-seater or 7-seater option with the updated platform.

Performance

According to the news, a new G15 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine can be given for power in it. Its engine can generate maximum power of 163bhp and peak torque of 280Nm. Mahindra XUV400 can also be launched by the company in a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine, which can generate maximum power of 120bhp and peak torque of 300Nm. Both engines can be opted for automatic transmission with manual.

When will it be launched?

According to reports, the company can launch it in the Indian market in the last months of 2022 or early 2023.
