New Delhi: The month of ‘Muharram’ (Muharram) is the first month of the Islamic calendar. It is the second holiest month after Ramadan. This year, whether the moon of Muharram is from July 19 or July 20, the moon of Muharram is visible. However, the moon of ‘Muharram’ did not appear on Thursday, July 19, so Muharram will start from Thursday, July 20. While the 10th date of Muharram i.e. Yom-e-Ashura will be on 29th July Saturday.
Although it is a month, but in this month Muslims especially Shia Muslims mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. Yom-e-Ashura is celebrated on the holy date of Muharram.

The first date of Muharram month can be 20 July or 21 July. The moon of Muharram month will be seen on 19 July 2023. If Zu al-Hajja falls on 29th, then the month of Muharram can be from 20th July, otherwise 21st July will be the first date to start the month of Muharram. But it was confirmed only on 19 July. That is, the tenth day of Muharram may be Ashura on 28 or 29 July.
