Samta Nagar Police has unearthed an international gang cheating senior citizens. The accused involved in this gang used to cheat the elderly by luring them to convert foreign currency into Indian currency. Three accused involved in the gang have been arrested from Vasai.

According to Samta Nagar police, Malad resident Ramju Ali Sabriwala (56) has a shoe shop in Virar. On the morning of July 27, someone called him and said that he had dollars, which his wife had received in salary. These have to be converted into Indian currency on commission. Greed, Ramju trusted them and reached near Kandivali railway skywalk to meet them. There, four-five people including a woman met Ramju.

They allegedly forcibly handed over a bag full of dollars to Ramju by offering him exchange for $16,000 and left with Rs 3.5 lakh cash located near Ramju as security. On the way, the accused told Ramju that they would be given their commission if the dollar was exchanged. At present, they are keeping this three and a half lakhs as security money. When Ramju opened the bag after coming home, it was full of newspaper clippings.
