Mumbai
The corona pandemic is getting out of hand again in Mumbai. There are reports that there has been an increase of about 19% in the average weekly cases. People are also troubled by the increasing cases of corona because preparations are also going on for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations starting from September 10 in Mumbai.
Mumbai Municipal Corporation has warned that the next 15 days are going to be very important. There is a fear that due to festivals, the Korana epidemic may once again take hold of Mumbai. On Tuesday, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar also expressed a similar concern and said that it is useless to talk about the third wave of Corona as the third wave has arrived.
More than 2500 cases in the first week itself
On Monday, 379 new corona patients arrived in Mumbai and 5 patients died. With this, the number of corona patients in Mumbai increased to 7,46,725 and the death toll reached 15,998. In the first six days of September, more than 2500 cases have been reported in the city so far. This is 28% of the cases reported in August.
Rapid rise in active cases
If you look at the figures, you will find that every day since September 1, more than 400 corona patients have come every day except Monday. A day before this, the record of several weeks was broken when 496 cases came. With the jump in daily cases, the number of active cases increased from 2700 to 3771 on 6 September.
Preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi raised concern
In the midst of preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi, the cases of corona have also increased the concern because many famous markets of Mumbai have already started increasing the crowd. Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakni said, “This month is important for us. At this time people are going out to celebrate the ten-day Ganpati festival. These people will stay in the house only after the idol immersion. So the next 15 days are very important for us.
Ahead of the festivals, Mumbai Police launched a campaign named ‘Special 13’ Squad to ensure that people follow the COVID protocol during this period. Last year too, restrictions were imposed in Mumbai on Ganpati festival due to Corona.
