Narendra Modi Stadium: Government bids on growing controversy – only Motera Stadium is named after Modi, campus will be in Patel’s name

There has been a backlash from the government when the controversy over the name of a stadium in Gujarat was named after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Central Government on Wednesday clarified that only the name of the Motera Stadium has been changed while the name of the entire sports complex will remain on Sardar Patel. President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad today. This stadium is named as Narendra Modi Stadium whereas earlier it is known as Motera Stadium.

After this, there were various reactions on social media about the renaming of Motera Stadium. Leaders of the Congress and some other opposition parties accused it and called it an insult to Sardar Patel. When asked about these allegations, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that only the name of Motera Stadium has been changed while the entire sports complex will remain in the name of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
