Nawaz was not getting the role
Nawazuddin said in one of his interviews that he used to get only minor characters in Bollywood films. Nobody used to offer him a good role. Nawaz said that he was only offered the roles of pickpockets and waiters.
A scene changed luck
Nawaz did a small role of Asgar Mukadam in Anurag Kashyap’s film ‘Black Friday’. Nawaz acted so well in this role that on the same day, Anurag Kashyap had told Nawaz that one day he would take him as a hero in his film.
Anurag asked- Who are you, brother, from where have you come?
Nawaz was new to the industry when ‘Black Friday’ was shot. The interrogation of the character of Asgar Mukadam was made tremendous by Nawaz that Anurag Kashyap asked him – Who are you, and where have you come from? Just after this scene, Anurag promised Nawaz that one day he would make him a hero in his film.
When Nawaz did not believe in Anurag’s call
It had been many years of shooting for ‘Black Friday’. Then one day suddenly Nawaz gets a call from Anurag Kashyap and says that he is giving him the role of lead hero. This character was Faizal Khan of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’. Nawaz did not believe that Anurag remembered his promise that he would give him the role of lead hero.

Nawaz’s career as a police officer role of Vidya Balan’s lead role in the film ‘Kahani’ is also memorable.
