A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking urgent hearing on a pending PIL seeking removal of protesters at the borders of Delhi. The petition has been filed after the body of a man with one hand amputated was found a day ago at a farmers’ protest site on the Singhu border. The body of Lakhbir Singh (35), a resident of Tarn Taran in Punjab, was found tied to a police barricade near a farmers’ protest site. He had 10 wounds from sharp weapons on his body and a group of Nihangs are being held responsible for the incident.

Referring to the incident, a fresh petition has been filed seeking urgent hearing on the PIL pending since March this year. “Freedom of speech and expression cannot be above the right to life and if this protest is allowed to go on like this, the country will suffer massively,” the petition said.
