The constable posted in the Seemapuri traffic circle was returning home on a government bike at night. A car hit him near Durgapuri Chowk, due to which he fell. Despite the injury, the policeman chased and stopped the car at Loni roundabout. The car driver called five boys on the phone. The six accused thrashed the constable fiercely. He broke his head by hitting him several times with a stone. The accused fled with the keys of the government bike. The police caught its owner from the number of the car, from which the rest of the accused are being traced. Jyoti Nagar police station has registered a case under several sections including attempt to murder.
Mohit Kumar (33) lives in Loni Road LIG flats and is originally a resident of Shamli district of UP. He is a constable in Delhi Police, who is posted in Seemapuri Traffic Circle. He told the police that he was returning home after finishing duty on Monday night. At around 11:20 pm, turn from Durgapuri Chowk towards Loni Road. A speeding Briza car hit the side near West Jyoti Nagar Agrasen Gate. Due to this he fell down. The bike broke down and he also got injured. Loni, the car rider, fled towards the roundabout.
He claims that he picked up the bike and chased it to stop the car at Loni roundabout. He talked to the driver about driving a speeding car and damaging the government bike. The driver started calling someone from inside the car. In a short while, five boys reached there riding on three scooters. The car driver also came out, who along with the five started beating them. It is alleged that the car driver picked up the stone and inflicted several blows on the head of the constable. This left him covered in blood.
Even after being a cook, the accused started threatening that they would take Mustafabad and would not even give the dead body. They took out the bike keys and fled. Seeing the policeman bleeding, someone made a PCR call. The injured policeman was admitted to GTB Hospital. The police brought its owner Mohammad Intezaar (35) from Mustafabad through the number of the car. Based on this interrogation, the rest of the accused are being traced. The police is adding links to the case by scanning the footage of the surrounding CCTV cameras.
