The Punjab government is in tension as it lags behind the vaccination drive amid Corona’s growing transition. The government has shown tough attitude when health workers and frontline workers do not come forward to get vaccinated. The Health Minister of the Punjab Government said that if the health workers do not get the vaccine fixed in time, then they will have to bear the cost of their treatment themselves. The quarantine leave also has to be forgotten.
Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Sunday warned healthworkers that those who are not getting the Covid-19vaccine, if infected, will not be allowed quarantine leave. He further said that the healthworkers will also have to pay for their treatment on their own. Let us know that till now the government was spending the treatment of the Corona infected.
Very few people are getting vaccinated
The Punjab government has taken this decision citing reports that a very small number of people are coming to Punjab to get vaccinated. This is the reason why Punjab has lagged behind other states in the vaccination drive.
Will not get quarantine leave if infected
Balveer Singh Sidhu said, ‘Healthcareers who are not getting vaccinations to increase their immunity even if given the opportunity again and again, will have to get their treatment on their own if there is an infection. They will also not be allowed the benefit of quarantine or isolation leave.
Corona rising again in Punjab
Let us know that Covid-19cases in Punjab have seen an upsurge again. On 20 February, 358 new cases were reported here. There are currently around 3,000 active cases in Punjab, whereas the state had only 2000 cases three weeks ago. The Punjab Health Minister says that to deal with any unprecedented situation, all health workers are in dire need to get themselves vaccinated.
‘We have to be ready for the second wave’
Punjab is one of the six states where Kovid cases are rising again. The Health Minister said, ‘We should be prepared to deal with the second wave. The re-emergence of Kovid patients suggests that it is not yet completely gone and new cases can be seen again in Punjab. Therefore, it is important to follow the proper behavior of Covid-19such as social distancing, mask, hand sanitization and respiratory regulation.
Punjab behind target in vaccination drive
The Punjab government minister said that health workers should remove their hesitation and come forward for vaccination at the earliest. This is necessary for their safety and the safety of their close ones.
Let me tell you that the speed of vaccination drive in Punjab is very slow. Expressing concern over this, Sidhu said that so far 2.06 lakh healthworkers and 1.82 lakh frontline workers have registered for Covid-19vaccination. About 79,000 health workers and 4,000 frontliners have been vaccinated, but are far behind the target.
The Health Minister has appealed people not to pay attention to any rumor and misinformation. The last date for the first dose of Punjab vaccine has been extended from February 19 to 25 February.
