Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday over the alleged WhatsApp chat of ‘Republic TV’ editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami said that providing sensitive information related to the security of the country to a journalist is a ‘criminal act’. He said that this matter should be investigated.

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘A journalist is being given sensitive information of defense before Balakot (air strike). The same journalist said after the Pulwama attack that it has been very good for us. This reflects the Prime Minister’s thinking. It is thought that 40 people died and we will win the election.

The Congress leader said, “This information is available to four to five people. In such missions, the pilot does not have information until the last moment. The Chief of Army Staff, Prime Minister, Home Minister, Defense Minister and National Security Advisor have (related information).

Rahul Gandhi alleged, ‘Any one of these five people would have given a notice. It is a criminal act. ‘ He said, ‘We have to find out who gave this information. Both the informer and the recipient will have to go to jail. Its process should start, but this process will not start because maybe the Prime Minister will have given information.

According to the Congress leader, there is nothing patriotic in taking political advantage of the air strike. He claimed, ‘If Arnab Goswami knows, it was on his WhatsApp, then I think Pakistanis would also know. This is a criminal act and investigation should begin. ‘
