Fossils of bones of sauropod dinosaur bones dating back to 10 million years have been found from an area near West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. However, this result of the researchers has not been published yet. Researchers from the Geological Survey of India (GSI), a northeast-based paleontology region, concluded this after their recent visit to the site.

GSI researchers noted that this is the first time that remains of a sauropod possibly of Titanosarian origin have been found in the area. The sauropod has a long neck, long tail, head shorter than the rest of the body, four thick and pillar-like legs.

Bones of sauropods of titanosaurian origin found
The researchers said that Meghalaya is the fifth state in India and the first northeastern state after Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu where bones of sauropods of Titanosaurian origin have been found.

Dinosaur bones were also found in 2001
Arindam Rai, senior geologist at the Paleontology Region at GSI, said GSI in Meghalaya had also found dinosaur bones in 2001, but their condition was so bad that their taxonomic identification was not possible.
