- Satellite starts communicating with ground systems
India has taken a major step in its surveillance capability in the Indian Ocean region. The Indus Eye Satellite was deployed in space on Sunday to monitor the Indian Ocean. With the help of this satellite, the Indian Navy and the security agencies will be able to monitor the movements of suspected ships operating in the Indian Ocean. In such a situation, it will be easy to keep an eye on every movement in the sea of China, Pakistan. The Indus Eye Satellite has been developed by DRDO. The satellite is capable of automatically detecting active warships and merchant vessels in the Indian Ocean region. This satellite was placed in space by ISRO under its first space mission of the year 2021. Government sources said that the satellite has also started communicating with ground systems.
South China Sea will also be seen
The media report quoted government sources as saying that with the help of the Indus Eye Satellite, it would be possible to monitor the African region, from the Gulf of Aden to the South China Sea. The Indus Eye is the first satellite in the series of satellites with the help of which India will increase its surveillance capabilities on the ground in Ladakh region adjacent to China and areas bordering Pakistan.
Four to six satellites needed
India shares a nearly 4000 km long border with China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). In such a situation, there is a need to keep a close watch on the activities of the Chinese Army on both sides of the border (also in Indian territory). Indian security agencies believe that at least four to six satellites are needed to control and monitor any unexpected move by neighboring countries.
Defense forces will be strengthened by defense forces
Along with the establishment of the Defense Space Agency, the government has also created a Defense Space Research Organization to oversee the ability to protect space assets. It protects our assets in space from being attacked by opponents. In the near future, the Defense Forces of the Defense Forces will also be strengthened significantly.
