For more than a year, he has been in the news for more drugs than his films. The Narcotics Control Bureau has tightened a lot on the drug trap spread in Bollywood. After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, many people are caught in this clutches. Now recently Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan has been arrested for taking drugs. In all these cases, the name of the Zonal Director of ACB remains in the discussion. Our colleague Times of India has an exclusive conversation with Sameer Wankhede. Sameer Wankhede and NCB are accused of targeting only Bollywood. On these allegations, he said, ‘It has happened many times that we have been accused that we are targeting Bollywood. But instead of thinking of anyone, let’s talk on facts and even more on figures. Last year, we registered cases against a total of 105 people in 10 months. Can you tell how many of these were celebrities? Only a few. This year also we have arrested 310 people and how many of them are celebrities? We have seized drugs worth Rs 150 crore but no one talks about it. On the news of his arrest, Wankhede said, ‘Today the whole media is running the story of Aryan Khan. Only 2 days back we had seized drugs worth 5 crores but no one played the news. Last week we caught drugs worth 6 crores which was related to the underworld but no one carried the news. Nobody wants to talk about this. One of our men got injured while apprehending a Nigerian drug dealer but no Bollywood person or media reported on this. It is obvious that if you catch a famous person, then news will be made, but do not make such an allegation that we are targeting only Bollywood. Sameer Wankhede further said that his team is only doing its job and some famous people are also caught in it. He said, ‘The rules are the same for everyone, so why would we leave celebrities? Those who do not follow the law will not be spared and that too just because they are famous? Does this give them the right to break the law? If a famous person breaks the law then what should we do? Shall we just catch the drug peddlers and raid the slums? This is not possible.’ On Aryan Khan and K’s case coming in the headlines, Sameer Wankhede said, ‘I agree that this case has come into the limelight. But after Sushant’s case number 16, this is case number 105, in the middle of this too many cases were registered. But people don’t talk about other cases because they are not famous. We have busted a network of 12 drugs but no one has ever talked about it.
