Talking to news channel NDTV, Taapsee said, ‘I and my family fully cooperated with the authorities during the raid. The investigating officer was very polite and took full action as per the rules. I and my family have answered all the questions of the Income Tax Department officials. I cannot hide anything, so if I have done something wrong then it will come to the fore. If I have done any wrong thing, I am ready to face punishment.
‘I don’t know myself that I have 5 crores’
After a raid on Tapsi Pannu’s whereabouts, several news reports said that a receipt of Rs 5 crore was recovered from him. In response, Taapsee said, “The tax department has not said anything yet but in some media reports it has been told that a receipt of Rs 5 crore has been received from my house and a bungalow in Paris.” Taapsee further said in a funny tone, ‘I was surprised to hear that someone had given me 5 crore rupees. My family was also saying that I have so much money and they did not know. ‘
‘I am thankful to Finance Minister’
Taapsee was asked why the raid was done in his place. In response to this, he said, ‘I do not know why I raided here. When this happened, there was no option but to follow the process. Let us know that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said last week that in the year 2013 also these people (Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap) were raided here but no one made it an issue then. In response, Taapsee Pannu said, “I am thankful to the Finance Minister that he himself said that this is a legal process, so don’t make it sensational.”
More than 30 places were raided
Explain that on March 3, the Income Tax Department had conducted raids in more than 30 places in Mumbai and Pune. Anantrag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena’s company Phantom Films have been accused of tax evasion. Apart from this, the Reliance Entertainment Group CEO Shibashish Sarkar was also raided here. Also, some employees of celebrity and talent management companies Quan and Exide are also under investigation.
